Why the Texans

Why families choose the Texans

1

Results that show up at state

Champions, finalists and placers across all three styles. Our wrestlers peak when it counts.

2

Beginners become champions

Warren won two state titles in his first year. We teach the basics right, then build on them fast.

3

Three styles, more mat time

Folkstyle in the fall and winter, freestyle and Greco-Roman in the spring and summer. More matches make better wrestlers.

4

College-level clinicians

Club members have trained with Oklahoma's DJ Parker, a Big 12 Wrestler of the Week, and with a 2× NCAA champion from the University of Iowa.

5

A coach who travels with you

Coach Nick McClellan takes Texans to tournaments across Texas and into Oklahoma, and hosts the Texan Scramble tournament.

6

A real team

Boys and girls ages 4 to 18 train side by side, with parents who show up for every kid. Coach Nick says we have the best parents.

Life in the room

What we coach

Three styles. One room.

Fall & Winter

Folkstyle

The style of Texas high school and college wrestling. Takedowns, escapes, reversals and control on the mat.

Spring & Summer

Freestyle

The Olympic style wrestled around the world. Fast and explosive, with big points for exposure and throws.

Spring & Summer

Greco‑Roman

Upper body only. It builds hand fighting, position and throws that win matches in every style.
